Energy

Small business owners want energy that is affordable, reliable, and American. NFIB focuses federal efforts on making energy usage as seamless as possible for job creators.

Repealing Burdensome Rules

NFIB is at the forefront of the fight to rein in overregulation of the energy sector. Over the last two Congresses, NFIB supported a number of key bills that helped lower energy costs for small businesses and consumers all across the U.S.

118th Congress

  • SJ Res. 58 - Repeal of the DOE final rule on gas furnace efficiency standards
  • S. 4072 – Legislation that would prohibit the use of funds to implement, administer, or enforce certain rules of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), specifically preventing them from creating a de facto EV mandate

119th Congress

  • HJ Res 20 – Repeal of a DOE rule increasing energy efficiency standards for consumer gas-fired instantaneous water heaters
  • HJ Res 35 – Repeal of an EPA rule establishing a methane fee for oil and natural gas production, processing, transmission, and storage
  • HJ Res 104 - Repeal of a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rule restricting energy production on more than 1.7 million acres of land in Montana
  • HJ Res 105 - Repeal of a BLM rule that would block access to 99% of coal deposits and 44% of federally owned oil and gas resources in the state of North Dakota
  • HJ Res 106 – Repeal of a BLM rule restricting energy production on more than 3.6 million acres of land in Alaska
  • HJ Res. 124 (216-209) – Overturning a BLM rule limiting production in the National Petroleum Reserve.
  • HJ Res. 130 (214-212) – Overturning a BLM rule restricting coal exploration in the Powder River Basin in northeast Wyoming.
