Prominent officials -- including President Trump -- want to talk with NFIB members about the coronavirus crisis

In recent weeks, multiple U.S. Senators, Representatives, and Governors have reached out to NFIB and asked to speak directly with small businesses in their home states. They recognize the urgent need to support small business and NFIB’s ability to quickly connect them with job creators across America using tele-townhalls and other technologies.

NFIB has already hosted, or participated in, calls with multiple U.S. Senators, including Senator Ron Johnson (WI), Senator Rick Scott (FL), Senator Martha McSally (AZ), and Senator Steve Daines (MT), among others.

President Trump made a surprise appearance on a separate call.

NFIB welcomes the opportunity to facilitate these exclusive conversations to shape Washington, D.C.’s response to this crisis. We are committed to giving our members the most up-to-date information and that includes engaging with elected officials and policy makers.

These calls are an opportunity for our members to hear from elected leaders about enacted and pending legislation, including details, timelines, and debates. The lawmakers we work with are leading the charge to give small businesses relief and flexibility in these difficult times.

Most importantly, these interactive events give NFIB members the chance to make their concerns and needs known to our country’s leaders. They can speak directly and frankly with elected officials who are working to strengthen small business and the entire economy.

On the call on March 20, Senator Ron Johnson said: “We need to focus on businesses being able to remain solvent so that at the end of this… they’re going to be able to start up their operations again and get fully up to speed as quickly as possible.”

Senator Johnson also said, “I want to thank the NFIB for being a great representative for small businesses.”

In this time of challenge for small business, these engagement opportunities offer a timely and uniquely effective way to elevate our members’ voices. NFIB will continue to work with lawmakers who champion small business and fight to defend their irreplaceable contribution to communities and the country.

Additional events are in the planning stages as elected officials are reaching out to us daily.

We will continue to connect policymakers with our members. We will also send out emails inviting our members to join upcoming calls.
