NFIB State Director Annie Spilman was on KRLD NewsRadio 1080’s “CEO Spotlight” podcast today to talk about the latest Small Business Economic Trends report. The survey showed that small business optimism fell 1.8 points to 98.8 in July.
“Uncertainty for a small business owner is a killer,” Spilman told host David Johnson. “They’re not going to expand, they’re not going to hire…. In June, we did see some numbers go up because some businesses were able to reopen and they were able to make some actual sales. In July, we saw that fall because some of those businesses had to close or they realized they couldn’t operate” at the levels they thought they could because of the COVID-19 public health restrictions.
