Leadership Council Meeting Draws Top Officials and Some Assurances

Date: November 28, 2018

Pinnacol announces $70 million dividend for 2020

The 2018 election did not leave in its wake a better business outlook for the coming years, which is why it was reassuring to hear some comforting words from top legislative officials who spoke to a gathering of NFIB Colorado’s leadership council in Denver, November 27.

Sen. Angela Williams, chairwoman of the Senate Business Affairs & Labor Committee, outlined her plan for a business coalition — inclusive of NFIB — to assist with evaluating pending legislation, and to make sure the voices from the business community are heard. Earlier this year, NFIB thanked Williams for her prior support of the small-business agenda during the last session of the Legislature.

NFIB also thanked State Rep. Tracy Kraft-Tharp for her tireless efforts as chairwoman of the Legislative Taskforce for the Simplification of Colorado’s Sales and Use Tax system. Colorado is recognized nationally, and not in a good way, for having the most complicated and burdensome collection and remittance process for sales tax.

The best news of the meeting came from Edie Sonn, vice president of communications and government affairs, who announced a $70-million-dollar dividend to Pinnacol policy holders for 2020. Pinnacol has been a longtime sponsor of NFIB Colorado in all member outreach and activities. Sonn expressed thanks to NFIB for all its efforts in representing Colorado’s small-business owners in the Colorado Legislature.
