Governor’s Top Business Aide on NFIB California Podcast

Date: May 17, 2021

Dee Dee Myers gives small-business owners the latest information on re-opening, vaccinations, grant money, and whether there will be tax increases

Dee Dee Myers, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s senior business adviser and director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), was the special guest on a recent NFIB California podcast.

“She packed more valuable information into 15 minutes than anyone I’ve ever heard,” said NFIB California State Director John Kabateck, who hosted the podcast. Indeed, she touched on a variety of topics, such as the re-opening of the state, vaccinations, the state’s Small Business Relief Grant program, the California Competes Tax Credit program, rehiring incentives, and license and fee reductions.

She also noted that California ranked first in the nation in business start-ups last year and this year. Perhaps the sweetest music to the ears of small-business owners came when, in rapid-fire fashion, she said:

“I want to say unequivocally:
“The governor had no interest in raising taxes this year.
“There will be no income tax increase.
“There will be no corporate tax increase.
“There will be no wealth tax.
“There will be no interest in capital gains.
“And he has said not only will he not support it, but if it comes to his desk, he will veto it.”
