WATCH: Hutchinson, Rutledge Speak at Small Business Day

Date: March 14, 2019

Gov. Asa Hutchinson and state Attorney General Leslie Rutledge were among the speakers at this year’s NFIB Small Business Day at the Capitol. The event was held Wednesday, March 13, at the ASU System Office across from the state Capitol. NFIB hosted the event with the Arkansas Homefurnishings Association, the Arkansas Outdoor Advertising Association, and the Arkansas Professional Bail Association.

Governor Hutchinson said he appreciated the work NFIB does on behalf of its members and urged the gathering of about 40 entrepreneurs to contact their senators and representatives about the legislation that affects their small businesses.

Rutledge took a moment before her remarks to commend NFIB for helping “small businesses who help Arkansas and American families.”

Later, she tweeted that small business is “the backbone” of the state’s economy.

Other speakers included House Speaker Matt Shepherd and House Judiciary Committee Chair Carol Dalby.

Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin was unable to attend Small Business Day but said on Twitter that “small businesses are the backbone” of Arkansas’s economy.
