NFIB recently hosted a string of roundtables that gave our small business members a chance to connect with their members of Congress.
State Director Rosemary Elebash led discussions with U.S. Rep. Martha Roby on Aug. 13 at HNB First Bank, an NFIB member business in Headland, and on Aug. 15 at Southern Independent Bank in Opp. Elebash and NFIB National Board Member Greg Powell hosted U.S. Rep. Bradley Byrne on Aug. 14 at Powell’s Fi-Plan Partners in Birmingham.
Roby discussed issues affecting small businesses throughout the 2nd Congressional District, including workforce development, better access to affordable health care and efforts to recover from Hurricane Michael, which raked across the region in October.
Byrne, meanwhile, discussed issues such as efforts to raise the federal minimum wage and the Corporate Transparency Act of 2019, which would require that businesses file even more paperwork with the federal government and raises significant privacy concerns.
