Issues will include how — or whether — to spend the state's record budget surplus

Alabama Legislative Session Begins March 7

The Alabama Legislature will convene for the 2023 Regular Session at noon on Tuesday, March 7. Gov. Kay Ivey is expected to announce her legislative agenda when she delivers her State of the State address that evening. The House and Senate are expected to take up a host of important issues including economic incentives, education reform and workforce training, and broadband expansion. Lawmakers will also have to decide how — or whether — to spend Alabama’s record economic surplus. According to the state Department of Revenue, revenue increased 8% in 2022, which came after the state posted a record $16 billion in revenue the year before. NFIB will be following these issues closely and advocating on behalf of our members.
