Meet the NFIB Members in the U.S. House of Representatives

Date: January 19, 2023

The 118th Congress adds six new NFIB members

With the start of the 118th Congress, new voices are in Washington, D.C., including six newly elected NFIB members in the U.S. House of Representatives. They join 19 other current NFIB members already fighting for small business in Congress.

John Duarte (CA-13), Cory Mills (FL-07), Erin Houchin (IN-09), John James (MI-10), Lori Chavez-DeRemer (OR-05), and Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) are the newest NFIB members to join the House and all having experience signing the front of a paycheck. The new Congress is filled with members from vastly different backgrounds and experiences, but we know these six pro-small business members will be strong advocates for Main Street.

The six new NFIB members of Congress are being featured in a congratulatory NFIB digital ad campaign in their respective congressional districts and in Washington, D.C. Adding new NFIB members to Congress will help ensure issues and policies are looked at through a small business lens. These members will advocate for the issues that impact small business owners across the nation during these difficult economic times.

NFIB will have to navigate a divided Congress to move small business priorities forward. To help educate members of Congress on the top small business legislative priorities, NFIB recently released the Small Business Growth Agenda which broke down the five main issues that NFIB members have identified as high priorities for NFIB’s advocacy in Congress.

NFIB amplifies the voices of small and independent business owners’ by shaping the public policies that affect their businesses. These six new members of the U.S. House, along with the other 19 current NFIB members in Congress, can help amplify the voices of small business.
