In August, NFIB New Hampshire hosted a webinar to recap big changes in the state budget and some of the top issues for small business that came out of the 2025 legislative session.

In the first half of the webinar, we were joined by a special guest, New Hampshire Senator Tim McGough (District 11: Merrimack, Amherst, Milford, Wilton). In the second half, New Hampshire State Director John Reynolds reviewed the new state budget and key issues from the legislative session with small business impacts.

Part I: Senator McGough shared with NFIB his background as a business leader and why he chose to run for public office. He brings a wealth of business experience to his role in the State Senate, which informs his view of business regulations, taxes, healthcare, and more.

At the State House in Concord, Senator McGough serves as Vice Chairman of the Senate Executive Departments and Administration Committee and sits on the powerful Senate Commerce Committee, which oversees a wide range of healthcare and business regulatory matters.

In addition, Senator McGough Chairs the New Hampshire-Canadian Trade Council, is Vice Chair of the Healthcare Consumer Protection Advisory Commission, and sits on several other key committees including the Joint Committee on Legislative Rules, the Joint Committee on Employee Classification, and Committee on Use of Dedicated Funds.

Senator McGough has a professional and legislative passion for improving patient clinical outcomes, quality of care, and affordability. He’s worked closely with NFIB NH on legislation to improve access to and control the cost of lifesaving prescription medication.

On the webinar, Senator McGough also shared his perspective on the new two-year state budget, the need for greater transparency and affordability in the healthcare system, and changes to housing and business regulations that will help grow the state’s economy.

Senator McGough has been a great partner to NFIB and is a strong advocate for small business. He strongly encourages more small business owners to run for local or state office and use their valuable experience to shape New Hampshire for the better.
