The credit was created to help small businesses purchase PPE and supplies.
The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) recently announced the Extreme Heat Equipment Credit, created to help small businesses purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) and supplies designed to minimize the effects of heat exposure. The credit is available to manufacturing, warehousing, carpentry, landscaping, and farming sector industries, where workers face elevated risks from exposure to high temperatures. Starting May 15, 2025, small businesses with up to 10 employees, in industries where workers are exposed to extreme temperatures can receive a one-time credit of $1,000 or 10 percent of their annual workers’ compensation premium, whichever is less, toward the purchase of PPE. Eligible purchases include but are not limited to fans, ventilation systems, cooling vests, ventilated hard hats, UV-resistant safety glasses, and cooling towels.
