"Strength in Numbers" Campaign off to a Great Start

Date: May 14, 2014

By: Barbara Quandt, NFIB Indiana State Director

Dateline:  Lafayette, Indiana

We had a
fantastic day in Lafayette!  There were 36
attendees at the first “Strength in Numbers” meeting and 14 were non-members
who came as guests of area members.  The meeting was extremely lively with
discussion ranging from state legislative issues to the very hot local topic of
commercial property assessments. State
Representatives Randy Truitt and Sheila Klinker
were there to provide a
legislative update and take questions and comments from small business
owners.  As a result of “Strength in
Numbers” we already have five new members in Lafayette and several others have
set appointments with NFIB field representative, Mark Leslie.

As a NFIB
member, you are part of an organization that is working to defend your personal
freedoms and your right to own, operate and grow your business. Your membership
allows us to strengthen the voice of small business and challenge harmful
legislation in every key area – taxes, healthcare, regulations and more. An
added benefit of belonging is you receive quality and affordable solutions to
help you run your business and build value in your NFIB membership. As a member
you have access to workers’ compensation, health insurance, business credit
cards and other financial services as well as discounts on maintenance and
operating supplies, shipping, computer products and more.

With this
meeting, NFIB Indiana began a series of events around the state focused on increasing
the number of NFIB members and getting small business issues in front of their
legislators. Next up is Anderson on May 20th at The Edge Restaurant.  Our third event of the series will take place in Fort Wayne on
June 4th.

Each event
will be a working lunch with local area legislators where members can voice
their concerns and have their message heard.
Members are
encouraged to extend invitations to all small business contacts as well as NFIB
members.  If you attend and bring guests,
your lunch and that of your guests are free!

Come join us and help increase
the clout of small business in Indiana and in Washington, DC!
