What is NFIB?

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is the largest advocacy organization representing small and independent businesses in Washington, D.C., and all 50 state capitals. As an influential business organization, NFIB gives power to its members by lobbying on behalf of its members and providing access to services and resources to help businesses grow and succeed. Use the About NFIB tab at the top of the page for more information about how you can be heard, be smarter, be involved and be connected with NFIB.

Where can I learn about employment opportunities at NFIB?

NFIB isn't just the nation's most powerful business advocacy group -- it's also a great place to work! If you're interested in making a difference to our thousands of small-business owner members, visit the Careers area, linked from the front page of NFIB.com, to learn more today!

Where can I get a directory of NFIB members?

NFIB does not share its member database out of concern for its members' privacy. However, you can often identify NFIB members in your area, since many display an NFIB sticker on their store window, cash register or reception desk. If your favorite small business doesn't have an NFIB membership plaque prominently displayed, why not ask if it is familiar with NFIB and would be interested in joining? Just send them to NFIB.com to become a member.

Is a business legitimate? They say they are members of NFIB.

The National Federation of Independent Business is a small-business advocacy organization with members of many sizes, industries and locations across the country. Any privately held business may join NFIB. NFIB does not maintain a record of the business practices of its members. NFIB hopes that your experiences with its members will be pleasant, but it cannot take responsibility for nor set standards for its members' individual, independent business practices. If you have a concern regarding a business, consider contacting your local Better Business Bureau or your state attorney general's office.

Who is eligible to join NFIB?

NFIB consists of small, independent business owners nationwide--the movers and shakers of each hometown. A typical small or independent business owner employs approximately five people and averages gross sales of $350,000 annually, but members of NFIB come in all sizes. NFIB members are farmers, manufacturers, service company owners, neighborhood retailers and wholesalers--and all members are fighting for opportunities among small and independent businesses! NFIB does not represent non-profits, government agencies or publicly traded companies. To learn more about NFIB members, visit the About NFIB area of NFIB.com.

What does it cost to join NFIB?
