Jim Brown
NFIB/Tennessee State Director

Jim Brown is the Tennessee state director for the National Federation of Independent Business, Tennessee’s and the nation’s leading small business association.

Brown assumed his new role in October 2007 after serving as NFIB senior media manager in 10 states across the South, including Tennessee, since 2004. His responsibilities as state director include lobbying on behalf of NFIB/Tennessee’s members, as well as overseeing small business grassroots activity across Tennessee and serving as NFIB/Tennessee’s media spokesperson.

Before joining NFIB, Brown was the corporate communications director at Gaylord Entertainment and the business editor of The City Paper in Nashville. He served in the U.S. Navy as a supply officer on a nuclear cruiser out of Norfolk, Va., overseeing four separate divisions. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in communication in 1987.
