NFIB/Kentucky is already gearing up for next year's legislative session. In 2012, we will:
- Oppose mandates that drive up the cost of health care. We will fight to stop efforts to require small businesses to cover additional conditions and treatments. Such mandates may be well intentioned, but they drive up the cost of health insurance and make it harder for small employers to afford even basic medical coverage.
- Do our best to block attempts to raise taxes on small businesses. Higher taxes leave small businesses with less money to grow their businesses and create jobs. The threat of an extension of sales tax to services remains a serious threat.
- Look for opportunities to provide relief from multiple local payroll tax filings. We’re working to pass legislation allowing employers to pay local payroll and business taxes online, eliminating the need to fill out and submit duplicate paper forms and saving employers hundreds or thousands of dollars a year.
