Finds Benefits of NFIB Membership

Rick Bloom Sr, Bloom’s Printing founder, knew about the print business as he worked for the local paper the Times Recorder. He originally started printing as a hobby in his basement to earn extra money. With the help of his son Rick Bloom Jr, he has now turned the company into a full-service, family owned and operated business that continues to help companies and individuals with printing needs for over 25 years.

While times have changed, they remain in the original location. Currently, Rick Bloom Jr. is the President of the company, controlling its day-to-day operations. In addition to Rick, there are three designers working under him. Rick Bloom Sr. still stays actively involved with the company.

Bloom’s Printing provides work for commercial businesses across the state of Ohio, but most of the work is done in Tuscarawas County and focuses on many other small businesses. In addition to this, about 20 percent of their work is distributed to businesses all over the country reaching states as far as Hawaii. The company markets itself to the public through social media outlets like Facebook.

Over the years, changes in margins have served to benefit Bloom’s Printing. With increasing success, the company purchased a four-color printing press in the late 1990’s. This has allowed the company to provide a more diverse set of printing services such as; newsletters, banners, business cards, political signage, wedding invitations, plastic cards, menus, etc. Today, the company is geared for printing 10,000 pieces of paper or less, but partner with other companies to guarantee printing satisfaction needs.

The printing business is not without its challenges. Technology is constantly changing, and they face competition for the online community when it comes to items such as business cards.  It is also getting harder to find quality pressmen as they are disappearing and more and more training is needed to keep up with technology.

Bloom’s printing became a member of the NFIB in 2012. Bloom’s Printing values their membership with the NFIB because they know the “On the lobbying front, you have to have a voice. NFIB is in there fighting for us.”  In addition to advocacy, they also find NFIB’s member benefits attractive. By switching his credit card processing through the NFIB MemberVantage program, the company has been able to save a lot of money according to Rick, Jr.
