The Washington State Auditor’s Office is asking NFIB members’ help with a short survey to learn more about businesses’ understanding of rulemaking.
The survey will inform an audit of regulatory agencies currently underway that is part of a continuing work on regulatory reform. The project has already resulted in numerous laws to improve the state’s interactions with businesses.
The survey will only take you about five minutes, and all responses will be anonymous. Click here to take the survey.
Preliminary survey responses show:
- About one-third of survey respondents talked with state agency staff in past year
- The vast majority of respondents have never been involved in a state agency rulemaking process and have never been contacted to learn how a proposed rule might affect their business
- However, three-quarters of the respondents would be interested in being involved in determining whether a proposed rule might impose higher costs to small businesses, compared to larger businesses.
