Brad Jones, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, released the following statement today in response to passage of House Bill 1582, a measure that changes when small businesses are required to pay withholding taxes:
“This will be a big help to small businesses. HB 1582 simplifies the rules so small businesses can send in their withholding taxes once a year instead of once a quarter. That might not sound like a big deal, but it’s going to save employers a lot of time and energy throughout the year.”
Rep. Mike Kelley, the bill’s sponsor, said, “This bill is a perfect example of how we can help small businesses reduce government red tape and paperwork. I’m very pleased we could finally get this bill over the finish line.”
The bill is awaiting Governor Nixon’s signature.
