There were no empty seats on Tuesday at the Kentucky Small Business Caucus’s Breakfast at the Mansion as, for the first time in years, a governor spoke to the group of over 20 business organizations at their annual “Breakfast at the Mansion.”

Governor Matt Bevin spoke to the group for about twenty minutes and highlighted his business background. noting that he’d rescued a bell manufacturing business started by his great-great-great grandfather, among other entrepreneurial efforts.
He praised small-business owners’ work ethic and value and outlined his commitment to making Kentucky a more business-friendly state. “Why not Kentucky?” he asked, referring to wanting to make Kentucky the best state for business.
The governor committed to working with the legislature on passing reforms that will help business owners operate and grow in Kentucky.
NFIB/Kentucky state director and chair of the KYSBC, Tom Underwood, gave the group an update on all they had accomplished so far and the challenges still ahead.
“After years of work, we have one business, one ID which will streamline processes for businesses in Kentucky,” Underwood said.
He said they still had work to do on helping Kentucky become the last right to work state in the South, something that will help Kentucky attract new business and workers to the state.
