BLS data reveals several positive indicators.
Wisconsin Economy Showing Improvement
Employment
trends in the Badger State are on the upswing.
According
to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, total employment in
Wisconsin reached a record high of nearly 3 million workers last December. This
translates to a total labor force participation rate of 68 percent—compared
with the national rate of 62.6 percent.
Wisconsin’s
unemployment rate also fell to 4.3 percent, while the national rate is 5
percent.
And
BLS data also showed that wages were up 3.5 percent in the third quarter of
2015, the fifth highest percentage of private-sector wage growth in the nation.
And
while Wisconsin’s private-sector job growth numbers may lag the national
average—1.2 percent compared with 2.2 percent from September 2014 to September
2015—jobs in the important industry of technology are on the rise, reported
WEAU 13 News.
In
2014-2015, according to nonprofit information technology association CompTia,
Wisconsin added nearly 4,000 technology jobs, and more are expected in 2016.
