Balanced Budget a 2016 Priority in Virginia

Date: January 18, 2016 Last Edit: January 19, 2016

NFIB working with national coalition to pass a balanced budget amendment.

In 2015, NFIB and the Balanced Budget Amendment Task Force launched a national campaign seeking to convince at least 34 state legislatures to pass resolutions calling for a constitutional convention on the balanced budget issue. So far, 27 states have passed resolutions, and Virginia is one of the next 13 targeted states.

With 34 state resolutions, Congress must hold a convention in which state delegates would vote on the proposed balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. Upon approval of the amendment, at least 38 states would have to ratify the change.

A Virginia state resolution is one of NFIB’s top priorities in 2016.
