Workers' Comp Conference June 18-20 in Nashville

Date: April 04, 2014

NFIB/Tennessee is encouraging its small-business members to attend the state Division of Workers’ Compensation’s annual education conference at the Nashville Airport Marriott June 18-20.

The three-day event is geared towards employers, human resource personnel, safety managers, attorneys, insurance adjusters and claims handlers, medical providers and others involved in handling workers’ compensation claims.

The Legislature passed major reforms to workers’ comp in 2013 that will go into effect for dates of injury on or after July 1. These changes will dramatically affect the provision of medical treatment to workers’ compensation patients and will deal with issues such as:

  • How causation is determined by physicians
  • How physicians can communicate with employers, insurance carriers, and injured employees about treatment
  • The introduction of treatment guidelines and changes to the current Utilization Review process
  • How physicians are selected by injured workers
  • New penalties for not providing benefits timely
The event is expected to draw over 600 people from around the state. To learn more, download the brochure from the Division of Workforce Development (PDF).
