Will an Indiana Mandated Strict Scheduling Bill Return?

Date: December 01, 2015

A new bill set to be filed during the next Indiana General Assembly session would require small business owners to offer employers strict mandated scheduling seven days in advance.

A similar proposal, Senate Bill 416, was heard last year in the Senate Committee on Pensions & Labor but did not receive a vote. It could see the legislative light of day again soon, says says Barbara Quandt Underwood, NFIB/Indiana State Director.

“While most say this issue is dead on arrival in the Republican dominated general assembly, the bill’s author has vowed to try to bring this issue back again this coming session and hopes to get a hearing,” Underwood says.
Last year’s bill required an employer to pay an employee for at least half of the unworked hours in the event the work schedule changes.
