URGENT! Know The Latest Rules On Independent Contractors Before DOL Comes Knocking

Date: July 18, 2015

“The new DOL interpretation expands the definition of who will be considered an employee under the Fair Labor Standards Act and creates complications for companies using independent contractors. Companies should take actions today to conduct internal audits and take corrective actions as needed as soon as possible before DOL comes knocking on their doors.”
So warns attorney Julie Pace, one of Arizona’s leading experts on employment law and human resources. Pace is a senior member of The Cavanagh Law Firm, an NFIB-member business that recently earned a Small Business Champion Award from NFIB/Arizona. Pace and fellow senior member David Selden (photo above with State Director Farrell Quinlan in middle) were also singled out, in part, as Small Business Champions for their successful work in rescuing NFIB members in the home health industry who hire independent contractors from being banned by Arizona’s Medicaid agency.
Pace and Selden have prepared a four-page memorandum, Department of Labor (DOL) Publishes New Interpretation Regarding Definition of Independent Contractors, for NFIB members to review. Additional information on independent contracting can be found on the NFIB website here.
