Time is Running Out on Small Business Bills

Date: March 28, 2014

Legislators will return from spring break on Tuesday, April 1, giving them under a week to tie up loose ends this year’s regular session ends.

NFIB/Alabama State Director Rosemary Elebash says lawmakers are running out of time to pass two bills that would make a big difference to small-business owners:

  • HB 108, a measure to exempt business personal property tax expenditures under $250.
  • SB 170, a bill that would help small businesses reduce costly legal fees by increasing the limits for small claims court from $3,000 to $6,000.

Session is scheduled to end on Thursday, April 3.
