TAX CUT TALK MUST DIRECTLY HELP SMALL BUSINESS

The following statement may be attributed to Andrew
Markowski, Connecticut state director of the National Federation of Independent
Business (NFIB) in reference to the continued discussions regarding the looming
fiscal crisis in Connecticut.

“Small business in Connecticut has been calling for strong
leadership to guide the economy towards improvement and certainly welcomes the discussion
of both short and long term solutions to stabilizing government spending and
creating a sound economic environment that will allow the state as a whole to
prosper.

“Burdensome taxes have been plaguing small businesses for
decades in Connecticut and while small business owners are grateful to hear tax
cuts being presented as an option to restoring our economic prospects, it is
vital to our community that any cuts directly impact the hard working men and
women running small businesses and employing thousands of people across the
state. It is imperative that in order for tax cuts to benefit those that can
assist the economic recovery most directly, lawmakers keep in mind that small
businesses pay their taxes as pass through entities and allow for significant
reform to the tax code to alleviate the financial burden they are currently facing.”
