Release of State Budget Delayed

Date: March 26, 2015

The House majority heard you, and has delayed the budget hearing until Monday to give the public more time to review and understand its complex budget and tax proposal.

NFIB appreciates that decision.

Could you read an entire state budget in just two hours?
Of course not. The budget is the single most complex piece of legislation in the state and includes literally thousands of provisions and totals billions of dollars.
Legislators still need to hear from you.
Please keep up the pressure against any new taxes. We’re hearing some troubling rumors at the Capitol about what the budget will include. Things like:
  • A new carbon tax that will kill jobs and hurt rural Washington state
  • A new capital gains tax that will penalize saving and investment
  • Higher B&O taxes that will hurt small business and further hurt job-creation
  • Billions in higher spending

Take Action Now!

Proponents of more taxes are counting on small-business owners like you not to attend. Here’s how you can help:

  • Come testify. This link gives good advice on where to go, where to park, and other helpful details
  • If you can’t come in person, call your state representative at 1-800-562-6000 or email them here to let them know you oppose any new tax plan.
The state will receive roughly $3 billion in additional tax revenues this budget cycle, just from the economic growth that is finally starting to occur after this long recession.

Tell your state representatives $3 billion more to spend is enough.

Small business can’t afford their new taxes and freewheeling spending plans.
