FULL AUDIO: SENATOR JOHNSON SPEAKING TO THOUSANDS OF SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS, VOWING TO FIGHT FOR TAX BREAKS

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is
releasing the audio of last week’s teleforum with Senator Ron Johnson.
Previously, the group had indicated what an honor it was to participate in a
teleform with the United States Senator from Wisconsin. During last week’s event,
Senator Johnson not only provided thousands of Wisconsin small business owners
an exclusive update pertaining to the current policy debates in Washington D.C.,
but fielded questions from NFIB members related to federal initiatives
impacting the small business community.

Wisconsin NFIB State Director Bill G. Smith told reporters
he was extremely grateful for Senator Johnson’s willingness to take the time to
reach out to hard working business owners in the state. Smith referenced Senator
Johnson’s previous experience as a business owner himself, noting that Johnson understands
the importance of the free market and representing Wisconsin in a bipartisan
manor by focusing on the areas of common ground so that everyone may succeed.
Most importantly, according to Smith, small business owners were relieved to
hear Senator Johnson state that he will not support a corporate tax cut that
does not assist the small business community.

According to Senator Johnson, most of Washington is focused
on lowering corporate tax rates, which is a positive step. However, he vowed
that he would not settle for legislation that would continue to have small
businesses paying a high individual tax rate. This would put small businesses
at a huge competitive disadvantage to larger corporations because of tax
structure and it is something that Senator Johnson vowed to fight against.

Many NFIB members expressed a sense of relief to learn that
Senator Johnson is fighting on their behalf. Smith noted that empowering the
free market through fewer regulations and less taxes will ensure that success
goes to small employers, manufacturers and the economy as a whole. Thanks to
Senator Johnson’s willingness to maintain open lines of communication with his
constituents, small business owners feel a sense of pride in their
participation with the law making process, according to Smith. Participants in
last week’s teleforum were left hopeful that with Johnson advocating on their
behalf in Washington, the economy will be able to prosper in Wisconsin and
throughout the country.
