California’s leading
small business association today released the results of its annual survey of
members. Every year, the National Federation of Independent Business polls its
members on state and national issues vital to their survival as entrepreneurs.
It then centers its lobbying positions in Washington
and in Sacramento
on the responses. NFIB has more than 21,000 members in California.
The 2014 California
Member Ballot asked the following three questions and received the accompanying
percentages of responses:
Should California
add to the current tax on motor fuel a vehicle miles traveled (VMT) tax to fund
future highway and road
construction and maintenance?
YES 5%
NO 92%
UNDECIDED 3%
Should California
impose prohibitions on the use of fracking technology in the exploration of oil
and natural gas?
YES 18%
NO 70%
UNDECIDED 12%
Should government
services such as airport management, emergency call centers and public
transportation be turned over to private businesses?
YES 67%
NO 20%
UNDECIDED 13%
“Once again our
member’s voices are consistent,” said John Kabateck, NFIB/CA Executive
Director. “Government needs to leave
well enough alone and let the private sector grow and prosper. Our members know
how to work efficiently while providing excellent service to their customers.
Those in the legislature should listen and stop piling on more mandates and
regulations.
