NOTHING FICTIONAL ABOUT THE ISSUES PLAGUING SMALL BUSINESS
DETROIT (August 20, 2015): The nation’s leading small
business association, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is
applauding United States Senator and Presidential Candidate Marco Rubio for his
willingness to address the issues most troublesome to small business in
Michigan. Rubio laid out a plan to economically aid the small business
community, a group that according to the Presidential hopeful, is in desperate
need of advocacy in Washington D.C.
“Burdensome regulations and crippling legislative mandates are
keeping small business owners in Michigan from expanding and in many cases, result
in entrepreneurs having to shut their doors permanently,” Said NFIB Michigan
State Director, Charles Owens. “While our state has been doing everything right
to encourage and grow our small business sector, the White House has been going
in the opposite direction and taking our economy down with it. Every time a
small business closes up shop, jobs are lost and local communities suffer.”
During a speech in Detroit today, Senator Rubio highlighted
the troublesome economic climate for the small business community. He proposed revolutionizing
how the federal government regulates small business including overhauling the
tax code and drastically reducing the corporate tax rate. During his remarks,
he referenced two fictional people, “David,” a small business owner, and “Daniella,”
an employee.
“While the people referenced in today’s remarks may have
been fictional, NFIB has thousands of real life members that are facing many of
the challenges that Senator Rubio referenced. The bottom line is that small
business owners are the single largest employer in this country and if the next
President of the United States does not dramatically improve the damage that
has been done by the Obama Administration, Michigan and our country as a whole
will suffer tremendously,” According to Owens.
Owens concluded that, “While every small business cannot
hire their own highly paid personal lobbyist to look after their interests in
Washington, NFIB has been advocating for them in every state capitol and
Washington DC since 1943.”
