NFIB STATEMENT ON TAX CLIMATE STUDY

“Today’s Tax Foundation report pours cold water on the consistent rhetoric that New York’s business climate has improved dramatically.  Despite recent changes to the corporate tax rate, New York’s economy is heavily reliant on the vitality of small business which is constantly under siege by heavy taxes and dramatic increases in labor costs, said Mike Durant, NFIBNY State Director.  “The arrows are not pointed up for small business and our bottom of the barrel ranking will be cemented if the Albany agenda remains focused on unprecedented minimum wage hikes and narrow tax policies.   “It is time for broader approach to improving our economy which broadly reduces taxes to increase our competitiveness.  Subsidies and incentives may get people to look at New York initially but they certainly are not going to entice people to stay once the reality of doing business in this state sinks in.”
