NFIB Local Member Profile: Josh Agrelius of RWB Renovations

Name: Josh Agrelius

Business: RWB Renovations, LLC

Employees: 18

Location: Austin, Texas

Josh Agrelius didn’t think twice about going into business with his father-in-law Mike Bucko. Agrelius had prior experience to remodeling, and Bucko had the money to back the business up. The pair had one goal in mind: to support the family.

Agrelius and Bucko formed RWB Renovations in 2013 and its parent company ReBath of Austin in 2014. Both operations provide custom bathroom remodeling for clients in Austin. As a recent business owner and NFIB member, Agrelius talks focus and future of his newfound business.

You recently became a member of NFIB. Why did you decide to become a member?

Well, I never heard of or been involved in NFIB until the NFIB rep. came in and introduced himself and shared with us what the NFIB does for small business owners. We sat through a 45-minute presentation where he detailed what the primary focus was and the importance of being a member.

What’s the advantage of being an NFIB member?

It shed lights on some of the legislation that directly impacts the profitability of some companies contrary to democratic business culture.

You’ve been in business for about a couple years now. What would you say is your biggest challenge so far?

Our compliance with all the different governing bodies whether it’s workers’ comp., payroll taxes, franchise taxes. We’re a small business. We don’t have the overhead to have a full HR department or a full time tax accountant. Managing all of that and running the day-to-day business can be a little bit overwhelming. It’s nice that NFIB works on our behalf proposing legislation or amendments to legislation that put burdens off of our shoulders and allow us to focus on growing our business.

What do you look forward to as a small business owner?

Making positive contributions to the employees around me—and watching them grow. Being able to help our neighbors solve problems that everyone experiences: a beautification, a functionality of the bath area, whether it’s just bathing or making it safer.

Where do you see your business in a few years?

That’s a tough one. Right now, I’m just focused on tomorrow and today. But we want to be the trusted name for bathroom remodeling in the Austin area.
