NFIB Endorses Governor Martinez for Re-Election

Date: October 15, 2014

SANTA FE, N.M., Oct. 15, 2014—At an event in Albuquerque this afternoon, the representative association for America’s small-business owners today endorsed Gov. Susana Martinez for re-election, praising her success in turning New Mexico around from a fly-over state into a place attractive for businesses to start and stay.
“My dad started our company in 1950,” said Hap Richardson, owner of Richardson and Richardson Construction in Albuquerque. “Once when I visited his office as a little kid, I saw the NFIB plaque and asked what it was. He explained how NFIB was the only voice for small businesses such as ours. We have continued to be a member all this time. I am proud to announce that NFIB is endorsing Gov. Susana Martinez for re-election.
“She has always been a friend to New Mexico’s small business. She cut taxes 24 times, eliminating especially harmful taxes on companies that export goods. She also put an end to burdensome red tape. She understands that a vibrant small-business economy is how we end our heavy reliance on Washington D.C. and the partisan games that come along with it.”
The endorsement of Martinez was made by NFIB’s SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee, which Richardson is chairman of. NFIB has 330,000 dues-paying members across the nation, including 1,400 in New Mexico.
