NFIB Endorses Gary Palmer in 6th District Congressional Race

Date: October 08, 2014

The National Federation of Independent Business, Alabama’s leading small-business association, said today it has endorsed Gary Palmer for Congress in the 6th District.

“Our members support the candidates who support small business, and there’s no question that Gary Palmer is the small-business candidate in the 6th District race,” said Lisa Goeas, NFIB vice president for Political and Grassroots.

“Gary Palmer led the Alabama Policy Institute for 24 years,” said Rosemary Elebash, state director of NFIB/Alabama. “Through his work with the institute, Gary Palmer has worked with the Legislature, the governor’s office and NFIB on issues of concern to small-business owners, their employees and their families.

“Like our members, Gary Palmer wants lower taxes and sensible regulations, and he supports an energy policy that reduces our dependence on foreign oil while increasing supplies and keeping fuel costs in check,” Elebash said. “He understands the challenges facing small business, and he knows how overreaching regulations and higher taxes discourage job growth.”

Gary Palmer’s endorsement comes from the NFIB SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee, and is based on his record and positions on key small-business issues including health care, taxes and labor and regulatory issues.

NFIB has 7,000 dues-paying members in Alabama representing a cross section of the state’s economy. Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote on Election Day.
