Indiana’s business-friendly climate is turning heads nationwide. As former Gov. Mitch Daniels once said, the state is positioned to be the “peony in the parking lot” of the Midwest.
“Rich States, Poor States,” a new report by the American Legislative Exchange Council, ranks Indiana third nationwide for its economic outlook. Two years ago the state ranked No. 24. The state scored No. 1 rankings for levying no inheritance tax, being a pro-right-to-work state and maintaining a relatively low minimum wage.
“I think Indiana policy makers should be commended,” ALEC’s Jonathan Williams told Fox 59. “I think many of the strides that began under Gov. Mitch Daniels and now continuing under Gov. Mike Pence are some of the best changes that we’ve seen of any state across the country.”
