Governor Pat McCrory has signed Senate Bill 734, a measure providing extensive regulatory reform for North Carolina.
The 39-page bill calls for various administrative reforms, such as eliminating certain unnecessary or outdated statutes and simplifying cumbersome or outdated regulations. SB 734 also stops state regulators from passing any rules more stringent than federal minimum standards without the approval of the General Assembly.
“This is a major victory for our members,” said Gregg Thompson, state director of NFIB/North Carolina. “Regulatory reform has been a top priority for NFIB for a long time,” he said.
