Tax Increase on Anyone, Even “Millionaires” is Nothing But A Lazy Solution According to NFIB

TRENTON (June 22, 2015): Today the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is voicing their frustration over a recently revived proposal to increase taxes on those that have had the audacity to succeed in New Jersey. The statement below may be attributed to NFIB New Jersey State Director, Laurie Ehlbeck:

“I represent the thousands of small business owners in our state that are members of NFIB and hardworking tax payers. Raising taxes of any kind is not only the lazy solution to New Jersey’s budget crisis but it is the most definitive way to deter small businesses from being willing to operate in our state. At NFIB we hear constantly from small employers that pay their taxes as individual filers and will not only be detrimentally impacted by this legislation but no doubt be left questioning whether or not to continue employing people in our state.”

“Do not be confused by the nickname of this bill, it is in no way as simple as an escalation in taxes paid by those that make enough money not to even notice the increase. This bill goes much further and the Democrats are hoping that they will be able to fool the general public and pass this without a fight.”

“Not only does the small business community implore the sponsors to go back to the drawing board and find the courage to make sound economic decisions for our state, we remain steadfast in our opposition to this plan and hope that if worst case scenario occurs, Governor Christie will be at the ready with his veto pen.”
