Committee Approves Regulatory Review Bill

Date: March 27, 2015

As a small business
owner and NFIB member, freshman lawmaker Keith Wheeler clearly understands how
burdensome state government can be, so he is working on making it better.

HB 3887, which
passed unanimously out of committee this week, requires every state agency to scrutinize its
rules, administrative regulations, and permitting processes as they pertain to
small businesses and report back to the General Assembly.  The goal is to identify those that are
unreasonable and unduly burdensome and change them.

The bill requires
the first report within a year, and then for the agencies to follow up every
five years thereafter.
