86 Lawmakers Earn 100% NFIB Voting Records

Date: July 28, 2015

Ron Aldridge, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, said today that 86 members of the Mississippi legislature achieved a 100 percent NFIB Voting Record in the 2012-15 legislative sessions.

“Clearly, our leaders in state government understand what small business means to Mississippi’s economy,” Aldridge said.”Our small-business members and their employees appreciate the tremendous support they have received the past four years from our state legislators and key statewide officials involved in the legislative process.”

The NFIB/Mississippi Voting Record for 2012-15 includes 27 key votes on issues ranging from taxes relief to lawsuit to a resolution in support of a federal balanced-budget amendment. Some bills came up for a vote in only one chamber of the Legislature.

Aldridge said, “This voting record is a reflection of this enormous support and shows that Mississippi has more legislators and leaders than at any time over at least the past three decades who understand the importance of and are committed to solving those issues that burden our state’s No. 1 job creators and community supporters, and that prevent them from being the engine that has historically driven and continues to drive our economy forward – small business.

“Hopefully the small business owners and other voters of Mississippi will utilize this Voting Record in making their decisions during this year’s elections to better continue the economic progress our state is making,” Aldridge said. “By continuing to elect legislators and leaders committed to supporting our small business owners and employees, voters will have the greatest impact on improving their own local community’s economic future as well as our entire state.

NFIB is Mississippi’s leading small-business association with 2,800 dues-paying members representing a cross section of the state’s economy.
