Governor Shapiro’s Budget Proposal Hurts Main Street

Governor Shapiro’s Budget Proposal Hurts Main Street

NFIB responds to the governor’s proposed budget

NFIB Pennsylvania State Director Greg Moreland issued the following statement in response to Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget address before the Pennsylvania General Assembly:

“We are disappointed that Governor Shapiro’s budget proposal doesn’t include more policies that will actually ignite economic growth throughout the Commonwealth. Raising the minimum wage and making it more expensive to run a business is a bad policy for Main Street. Small businesses are still managing high inflation, an ongoing worker shortage, and costly government mandates.

“Government continues to cherry-pick winners and losers with tax credits and programs that only pertain to small populations, rather than simplifying the tax code and making it fair for everyone. If government would simply get out of the way, reduce regulatory burdens on business owners, and stop the bloated government spending, Pennsylvania small businesses would thrive.

“We urge Governor Shapiro and members of the General Assembly to support pro-growth policies and strengthen the small business economy.”
