The Texas Micro-Business Disaster Recovery (MBDR) Loan Program is Open

February 10, 2025

During the 87th Texas Legislative Session, NFIB supported the MBDR Loan Program to support micro-businesses affected by declared disasters.

Texas is no stranger to natural disasters, including heavy rains, strong winds, flash flooding, and tornadoes. Preparation is key to recovering from a natural disaster.

During the 87th Legislative Session, NFIB was proud to support the Micro-Business Disaster Recovery (MBDR) Loan Program, which is now open and accepting applications. This program provides zero-interest loans to eligible Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) to micro-businesses affected by declared disasters.

Micro-business is defined as a corporation, partnership, sole proprietorship or other legal entity that:

  • is domiciled in this state and has at least 95% of its employees located in this state;
  • is formed to make a profit; and
  • employs not more than 20 employees.

For updates on state disaster declarations, visit the Texas Division of Emergency Management’s disaster webpage. Check local disaster declarations (e.g. a declaration by a county judge or mayor) and federal disaster declarations in your area.
