The Massachusetts Legislature set the state’s annual sales tax holiday for August 8-9
The House and Senate voted to set the state’s annual sales tax holiday for the weekend of August 8th-9th. The mandatory Massachusetts sales tax holiday was a concession to small businesses as a part of the 2018 Grand Bargain package that also included a $15 minimum wage and the PFML law.
During the holiday weekend, most items below $2,500 will be exempt from the state’s 6.25% sales tax. Items such as meals, cars, boats, and alcohol are still subject to tax. For more information, please visit the state’s website regarding the sales tax weekend.
