NFIB Thanks Lawmakers, Kemp for Quick Action on Fuel Tax Suspension

Oil prices affect the cost doing business

NFIB State Director Hunter Loggins today thanked the General Assembly for passing a bill to suspend Georgia’s fuel tax for 60 days and Gov. Brian Kemp for quickly signing it into law.

“House Bill 1199 will provide immediate relief for Georgia’s small businesses,” Loggins said. “Fuel costs affect nearly every part of the supply chain, from production to delivery. While gas prices are below the record highs of 2022, they have risen sharply in the past month, driving up costs across the board.”

According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Georgia is $3.79, up from $2.80 a month ago.

“Suspending the state’s 33.3-cent-per-gallon gas tax and 37.3-cent diesel tax will lower operating costs and provide relief for small businesses and their customers,” Loggins said.
