Revenue Dept. launches voluntary disclosure, penalty waiver programs
The Washington State Department of Revenue has a lot of valuable information in its Spring 2026 Update that NFIB encourages its members check out. Topics include:
— New temporary voluntary disclosure programs (avoid up to 39% in penalties)
— Investment Income Program (available to businesses with unreported investment income subject to B&O tax)
— International Remote Seller Program (available to unregistered foreign remote businesses with substantial nexus in Washington)
— New Penalty Relief Program for ESSB 5814 sales tax changes
— Annual 2025 return due April 15, 2026 (applies only to businesses that file excise tax returns annually.
