NFIB PA in the News

March 5, 2024 Last Edit: July 25, 2024

A roundup of recent Pennsylvania news clippings of NFIB in action.

Pennsylvania State Director Greg Moreland was quoted in WGAL News regarding Gov. Shapiro’s call to increase the state’s minimum wage: “Inflation, labor shortages, supply chain disruptions, high fuel prices, spiking utility rates, and crushing taxes are dragging down main streets across Pennsylvania. Small business owners simply cannot afford Harrisburg politicians saddling them with such drastic labor cost increases.”

  • Pennsylvania Business Report quoted Moreland: “Lawmakers better be prepared to make some tough decisions when it comes to entitlements and spending, or else they will be forced to raise taxes.”
  • WTAE quoted Moreland regarding the push to increase the Commonwealth’s minimum wage: “Inflation, labor shortages, supply chain disruptions, high fuel prices, spiking utility rates, and crushing taxes are dragging down main streets across Pennsylvania. Small business owners simply cannot afford Harrisburg politicians saddling them with such drastic labor cost increases.” This article originally appeared in WGAL News and has been heavily syndicated.

State Director Moreland was quoted in Lehigh Valley Business regarding House Bill 1773, which would increase taxes on small businesses: “These aren’t titans of industries, they are our family members, neighbors, and friends from church that had a passion, and wanted to employ others. Small business owners are scraping by in this economy, and you want to quadruple their taxes?”

  • Broad and Liberty quoted Moreland: “There would be severe consequences to our mom-and-pop shops should this proposal become law. But maybe that’s what the sponsor wants? You can’t tax your constituency into prosperity.”
