Among the economic issues Main Street faces, from inflation to the worker shortage, many Missourians struggle to find affordable childcare, making it difficult to rejoin the workforce. Jones urged the Legislature to keep Missouri employers and their employees in mind and pass pro-economic development bills.

Jones also discussed Missouri’s increase in the minimum wage, which took effect on January 1, 2024.

“Any time you increase wages, you’re going to have to charge more for whatever it is that you’re selling, your services and products,” Jones said. “Wage inflation pressure actually puts pressure on prices.”
