NFIB Awards Florida Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott Guardians of Small Business Award

TALLAHASEE, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2022) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, awarded U.S. Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott with the Guardian of Small Business Award, NFIB’s most prestigious legislative recognition. “Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott have been steadfast supporters of Florida’s small businesses,” said Bill Herrle, NFIB Florida Executive Director. “They each earned a 100% NFIB voting record for the 117th Congress and have demonstrated their support on the most important small business issues. We are proud to have both Florida senators earn this award today.” “NFIB awards the Guardian of Small Business Award to Members of Congress who have proven themselves to be real champions of small businesses,” said Brad Close, NFIB President and CEO. “Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott have both been reliable supporters of small businesses, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. They opposed harmful legislation that would exacerbate the economic headwinds small businesses are facing such as an amendment to restore the Raise the Wage Act. They were staunch supporters of the Paycheck Protection Act and its extension. We are pleased to present them with the Guardian Award today.” Find a complete list of the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award recipients from the 117th Congress, please click here. NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with small businesses on key issues identified by small business owners. Those who voted with small business on key issues 70% or more of the time during the 117th Congress earned the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award. NFIB informs lawmakers in advance which votes will be considered NFIB Key Votes and asks lawmakers to support the consensus views of our members. We also remind them that the results will be reported back to the NFIB membership.
