Leah Long legislation making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent was a huge win for small businesses

NFIB State Director Leah Long told Talk 107.3’s Brian Haldane recently that the 2025 legislative session was a win for Louisiana’s small businesses.

Speaking July 9 on Mornings With Brian Haldane, Long said lawmakers passed major insurance reform bills, thanks in part to small business owners who called their legislators and pushed for change.

Long also said Louisiana small businesses scored a major victory at the federal level on July 4, when President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which includes a provision making the 20% small business tax deduction permanent. If Congress had let the deduction expire at the end of the year, Main Street businesses would have faced a major tax increase.
