NFIB Urges Leader Steve Scalise to Support Efforts to Repeal Beneficial Ownership Mandate

Radio and digital ads call on Congress to take steps to protect small business owners' privacy

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, released new paid radio and digital advertisements in Louisiana today, urging Leader Steve Scalise to permanently repeal the law that established the unconstitutional Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) mandate, and for the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) to immediately destroy all BOI data already submitted by U.S. small businesses.

“When President Trump freed over 32 million American small businesses from the costly and unconstitutional BOI reporting requirements in 2025, it saved small business owners more than $128 billion in red tape and compliance costs,” NFIB State Director Leah Long. “But the job isn’t finished. Congress must act now to permanently repeal this intrusive, unconstitutional law and order FinCEN to delete the data already collected from the millions of small business owners who were forced to comply.”

NFIB continues to fight against Beneficial Ownership Information reporting regulations in Congress, executive branch agencies, and the federal courts, working to permanently block and repeal it. If not fully repealed, 32 million small businesses nationwide would once again be subjected to this unnecessary, invasive, and unconstitutional mandate. Those who fail to comply would be subject to criminal and civil penalties of up to two years in federal prison and up to $10,000.
