Radio, digital ads urge Congress to protect small business owners’ privacy, repeal unconstitutional BOI mandate

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, released new paid radio and digital advertisements in Louisiana today, urging Sen. Bill Cassidy to permanently repeal the law that established the unconstitutional Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) mandate, and for the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) to immediately destroy all BOI data already submitted by U.S. small businesses.

“Last year, President Trump exempted over 32 million small businesses from the burdensome and unconstitutional BOI reporting mandates,” NFIB State Director Leah Long said. “The move saved small businesses over $128 billion in regulatory burdens and compliance costs, but Congress must ensure this invasive reporting mandate never returns. Our members are urging Congress to take immediate action to fully repeal the unconstitutional BOI law and require FinCEN to destroy the data collected from the millions of small business owners who have already complied with this dangerous mandate.”

NFIB continues to fight against Beneficial Ownership Information reporting regulations in Congress, executive branch agencies, and the federal courts, working to permanently block and repeal it. If not fully repealed, 32 million small businesses nationwide would once again be subjected to this unnecessary, invasive, and unconstitutional mandate. Those who fail to comply would be subject to criminal and civil penalties of up to two years in federal prison and up to $10,000.
